A Word From Our President
Dear Panhellenic Sisters,
My name is Abby Hatfield, and I am the chapter president of Delta Zeta Alpha Theta. We were founded in Oxford, Ohio in 1902 at Miami University. We were then graciously founded at the University of Kentucky in 1923, just 21 years later.
As I write this letter, I am brought to reflect upon my time in Delta Zeta. I have countless memories of laughter, teamwork, loving glances, and I had the privilege to see beautiful friendships form of my own, and others, through different pledge classes. Our chapter is built on six values; Friendship, Belonging, Curiosity, Generosity, Empowerment, and community. Our chapter does an amazing job at upholding these values through our involvement around campus, the way we hold value in our sisters, and our dedication to supporting our philanthropy.
Our philanthropy is Hearing and Speech, and this the heart of everything we do. We are driven to make an immense impact on the Hearing and Speech world, and do so by supporting our partners at the Starkey Hearing Foundation, Serious Fun Children's Network, and the Hearing and Speech Center in Lexington. We strive to live by the motto of our philanthropy - “So the World May Hear” - by bringing awareness to the amazing community and striving to help hearing and speech services available to all.
While we live out our core values, we also hold one deep personal value that shines through every aspect of our chapter, and that is authenticity. Delta Zeta is a place to be authentically you, and find your people that support that, instead of trying to change who you are. I have had the chance to be myself in every aspect in this chapter, and I am constantly met with love and friendship above all else.
I have the unbelievable privilege to lead over 320 women in this, whom I am beyond proud of everyday. I have made so many more friends than I could ever imagine, and I would not be who I am today without the love, leadership and guidance of these women in Delta Zeta. As you go through the recruitment process, lead with who you are at your core and never waiver your strengths. Panhellenic women as a whole are amazing and each chapter radiates kindness, leadership, and love. Embrace this journey with an open heart, and everything will fall into place. Trust yourself, and trust the journey, and you will find your place among the unique and amazing community that is Panhellenic.
With Love,
Abby Hatfield
