A Word From Our President:
Dear Potential New Members and the Panhellenic Community,
My name is Bailey Kington, and I have the honor of serving as the 112th Chapter President of
the Lambda Alpha chapter of Chi Omega. Our national organization was founded on April 5,
1895, and is the largest women’s fraternal organization in the world. I hope to give you a
glimpse into what makes this chapter such a special place to call home.
In the fall of 2023, I went through the recruitment process, and it was truly unlike anything I had
ever experienced. Recruitment is a unique opportunity because it allows you to explore the 14
chapters at the University of Kentucky and find the place that feels like home to you. I remember
walking into Chi Omega and immediately feeling overwhelmed by how comfortable I felt being
my authentic self. Every conversation was so genuine, and I felt truly seen and valued by every
person I talked to. In those moments, I realized that I wasn’t trying to become someone new, I
had found a group of women who loved me for exactly who I was.
I never could have imagined that I would one day have the opportunity to lead this incredible
organization of over 325 members. This chapter has exceeded every expectation I once had. I
am constantly surrounded by women who are involved, driven, and incredibly supportive. They
are the ones who lift me up on my hardest days and celebrate me on my best ones. They turn
stressful moments into laughter and make the smallest memories feel meaningful. These are
the women who will stand beside you through some of the most important and challenging
years of your life.
Our members are leaders, volunteers, and role models throughout the University of Kentucky
community. We have members serving on the Kentucky Panhellenic Executive Council, taking
on roles such as Marketing Director and Director of Programming, while others lead major
campus initiatives, including serving as the Overall Chair of DanceBlue, which is an organization
that raises over $2 million annually for the Kentucky Children’s Hospital. These opportunities
highlight the wide range of passions and leadership within our chapter and the impact our
members strive to make beyond our own sisterhood.
Service and giving back are at the heart of who we are. As a chapter, we proudly support our
national philanthropy, Make-A-Wish, and have helped raise over $3 million since 1999 through
events like Greek Sing, Wish Week, and other philanthropic efforts. Our commitment to service
reflects the compassion and generosity that define Chi Omega women.
We are equally dedicated to academic excellence, which is a value we truly hold ourselves to as
a chapter. Our members support and encourage one another to succeed, creating an
environment where everyone is motivated to reach their full potential both inside and outside of
the classroom.
Chi Omega has shown me what it means to be part of something bigger than yourself. It has
given me friendships that will last beyond the 4 years of college and opportunities that have
shaped me into the person I am today. Becoming chapter president is something I never
expected, but this chapter saw something in me before I saw it in myself, and that is something I will forever be grateful for.
I can confidently say that joining Chi Omega has been one of the best decisions I have ever made, and I would choose it again every single time.
Loyally,
Bailey Kington
